Equine Assisted Learning
Foxcote House Stables is excited to be offering a new service of dismounted equine-assisted learning, designed to enhance well-being, personal development, and social growth in a calm and peaceful environment.
What We Offer
Our horses help foster calmness, relaxation, and a strong sense of well-being.
Regular sessions can lead to improvements in resilience, confidence, and independence.
Participants also report better self-regulation and a greater sense of control over their emotions. Horses, being non-judgmental, provide a space where there’s no pressure to talk—simply being in the moment and connecting with the animals is encouraged.
Please note these sessions do not constitute a counselling or therapy service.
Our Location
Nestled in the scenic Cotswold countryside, our centre is easily accessible from Cheltenham, Gloucester, Bourton, and surrounding areas.
About Our Facilitator
Sarah brings over 30 years of experience in equine tuition. Having run the Foxcote House Riding Stables for many years, she has witnessed the physical and psychological benefits that horses and ponies can provide. Sarah is a fully qualified BHS instructor and holds certifications in safeguarding, first aid, child protection, and is DBS checked. Foxcote House Stables is fully insured for your peace of mind.
Our Ponies
We have a range of friendly, calm, and well-handled ponies, from miniature Shetlands to larger horses, all of whom love being petted and groomed. They are perfect for both individual and group sessions, standing quietly and allowing participants to engage in meaningful interactions.
Who Can Benefit
Our sessions are ideal for individuals who find group settings overwhelming or those unable to be in the traditional schooling system. We work with a variety of ages and have seen significant benefits for individuals dealing with mental health issues such as anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, depression, and more.
Sessions Tailored to You
Each session can be customized to meet the needs of the individual or group, ranging from handling and grooming to observing the horses’ behaviour in their environments. All sessions are supervised by a BHS-qualified instructor, and no special equipment is required—just suitable outdoor clothing!
